Cotten Exchange / Old Cinema Background

The Cotton Exchange could have been Blackburn’s most impressive building, but it wasn't completed, because it was started just as the cotton famine crippled Lancashire’s textile industry.
Despite the foundation ceremony being over the top the project fell apart because of low funds.the only aspect of building that was made was the left hand range but the upper tower was never built.  The building is now a derelict cinema.

this is what could have been, not fair !

this is what it is, still beutiful tho. http://www.cottontown.org/page.cfm?pageid=532
The corner stone for the Exchange was laid on March 10th 1863 and it was opened in 1865. The architecture is 14th century Gothic, my favorite type!
i have chosen to restore this because it is incomplete an therefore a good foundation to build on, also its style will incorporate well with my symbols and i can use the old designs for inspiration.

im going to ask if i can get inside of the building to take pictures but i doubt i will be i have looked fro signs on the actual building to ring up and ask but it has not been successful there are no clear to let sighs so i shall be making a trip to the town hall to ask about getting inside. its sad how it wasn't completed it could have been a beautiful building because whats been made of it is amazing its one of the prettiest aspects of Blackburn but the fact that is had been left to rot is a typical Blackburn thing.

i shall also be going to the library to get some books on the history of this building because it has an amazing history and im sure there would be books about it in the local history section. i want to find out more!!

my pictures of the building

im going to create drawings from these images, and therefore this will help me piece together a building an in turn i will be sort of restoring it.
